Find Our Writers in Waxwing, Salt Hill, and Faultline

Waxwing Literary Magazine
“Atlas” by Landon Godfrey, Waxwing Issue 2

The new journal Waxwing recently debuted its second issue, and they are certainly two for two in terms of stunning cover art. This latest cover image by Landon Godfrey riffs beautifully on the Greek Titan Atlas. The literary content is also top-notch, and includes work from three Meridian writers. C. Dale Young, whose poetry we included our fourth issue, has a story called “Desaparecido,” alongside a Michael Martone story titled “Four Hundred Forty-fourth Night, Give or Take.” We featured “Skirmish Sites, War Memorials”–a piece of odd, charming, imaginative sketches–in Meridian 6. Turning to poetry, Waxwing also features five poems by Lisa Russ Spaar, one of our most prolific contributors; her work appeared in issues 5, 8, 18, and 21.

The latest Salt Hill features work by Jenny Xie (Meridian 29) and Jane Wong (Meridian 31). Xie’s poem “Coming of Age” appears in the issue, as does Jane Wong’s “Field Notes Toward War.”

Finally, in the new Faultline, a literary journal out of UC Irvine, you’ll find work from Matthew Spireng, whose poem “Birthday Surprise” appeared in our Winter 2012 issue, Meridian 28, alongside poetry from David Wagoner, who had two poems in Meridian 27.
