Five Quarterly is an interesting project of a magazine: for each issue, five new guest editors select five poems and five stories, each from a separate writer.
Anthony Opal, whose work appeared in Meridian 28, has the poem “Sonnet” in the Fall 2013 issue of Five. It features musings prompted by a “crazy squirrel.” Doesn’t that pique your interest?
Anthony also has a Tumblr on which he’s posting a new original couplet each day as part of an “ongoing experiment.” They are odd and delightful–sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant, and at times both. I love to see how writers are using the internet to test out new literary endeavors.
