Sixth Finch Smorgasbord of Meridian Poetry Contributors

The other five must be around here somewhere…

Did you read the Summer 2013 issue of Sixth Finch? I was just taking a look at it, and that one issue includes work by three recent Meridian poets! It’s a profusion of Meridian writers, a cornucopia, a veritable smorgasbord! (Hyperbole downgrading now…)

Megan Pugh, Kyle McCord, and Christopher Kondrich all have poems in the latest Sixth Finchand you can read those on the journal’s website.

Megan Pugh’s “Leroy Kept Bees” appeared in our most recent issue, Meridian 31. “The dead in vaults / above ground in stone / masoleums that look / like stumps,” it begins.

We featured Kyle McCord’s “Portrait of Satan in Southern Arkansas” in Meridian 29. You can read that surreal meditation on mortality on our website. Its first lines state intriguingly, “Satan and I take bets on who will die first. I bet / I will.”

Christopher Kondrich, meanwhile, had work in Meridian 26, back in January 2011. Sixth Finch includes two of his poems, “Beach Scene” and “Degree of Nothing.”
